If there’s something we missed as much as the Astor cube, the KORG Volca FM takes the prize. Now, both of them are back! We were unable to spin the cube due to troublesome barricades, but we put our hands all over the Korg Volca FM.
The the ‘FM’ stands for frequency modulation, a type of synthesis in audio and music which the Volca FM replicates digitally. Released all the way back in March 2016, the Volca FM sold out everywhere before we even had the chance to play with it. A few minutes with the small synth showed off the powerful sound shaping tools hidden within. Look at what one youtuber (Masaki Takada) created with the Volca FM.
As the latest of KORG’s line of Volca synthesizers, we feel the Volca FM perfectly complements the earlier models with champion leads, heavenly pads and thick subs. If you’re heading to Astor place to spin the cube, come check out this powerful little synth in our NYC store before it disappears again!
