A new format created by Alexander Zolotov, based on the Russian Virtual ANS Synthesizer that converted audio into images and vise versa, now allows you to do so with an android or iOS device.
The PhonoPaper app reads audio from images that were printed or drawn freehand through your phone’s camera much like it would read a QR code. A new avenue for hidden messages opens up, from simple morse code to a recorded voice that can be heard by anyone with an app.
Imagine walking by an add in the subway for your favorite band’s next album, and being able to hear a small snippet of the title song. If PhonoPaper gains steam, we may have a brand new way to communicate with one another.
