In the world of cellphone customization, there are a lot of options available to make your phone feel a little more uniquely yours. If you’d like to take it to the next-next level, though, why not build your own?
It’s not as insane as it sounds, thanks to the work of David Mellis of MIT Media Labs. Mellis published his blueprints and a detailed set of instructions for what he calls a “difficult but potentially do-able project” that involves ordering the circuit board and electronics, soldering a number of small components together, and even cutting your own phone case, allowing you to make it exactly the way you want it.
