For the visually-impaired, design studio Nendo has hit upon a very useful ‘A-ha!’ moment.

By replacing the screws that attach eyeglass hinges to frames, which are prone to wear and tear, with an infinitely more flexible layered magnet system, there is less stress on the hinge attachment, making for a longer-lasting pair of glasses. Not only that, but because of the magnet attachment, the hinges are easily swapped out, allowing for easy swapping in of different colors and materials as the mood strikes.
