Brooks saddles have supported the derrières of countless cyclists for well over a century now, and it’s hard not to recognize their iconic design on the street these days. So when a company whose claim to fame is making high quality leather saddles announced that they will produce a rubber saddle, needless to say more than a few eyebrows were raised.

Brooks partnered with design firm IDEO to create the Cambium, an innovative take on a classic product. Organic cotton canvas is fused to vulcanized rubber and shaped over an aluminum and steel structure. The design provides instant comfort without having to break-in or condition the material, while at the same time delivering legendary Brooks durability.

Reinventing a classic is a tricky task, but when innovation is successfully mated to heritage the end result can become, well, a classic.
