From the MIT Media Lab comes the inFORM. inFORM is a Dynamic Shape Display capable of rendering 3D content physically. The rendering is similar to a simple pin art toy where the pins are controlled by actuators receiving digital data. The 3D imaging is collected using the kinect.
While there are some obvious physical limitations to its current design, the ability to interact with digital data in a tangible way opens a world of possibilities. From fun applications like games to adding a physical element in communicating during a conference call.
