New York, NY and Tokyo, Japan – After a year in development, Lemnos Japan releases its new type MARU clock for the Japan market. The new type MARU is a glass clock with Lemnos’ famous Japanese silent sweeping movement. The new type MARU deploys a special phosphorescent ink developed so that the glow is pleasing to the eye and uniform across the entire glass surface. Each and every Lemnos clock is hand-made by a skilled Japanese clockmaker in Toyama Japan and much of the time spent to develop type MARU is to ensure that the glow is calibrated to perfection and conveys the kind of balanced, soothing ambience for which Japanese lifestyle goods are known.
Lemnos also chose a more “fluid,” “calligraphic” italicized font for its typeface so that, according to the maker, “can easily blend and dissolve with everyday life.” Designed by Japanese print designer GRAPH, winner of Tokyo TDC and JAGDA award, no details are left out in the new type MARU. A new innovation in craftsmanship and the pursuit for perfection in product design, type MARU is available now in Japan via large retailers such as Tokyu-Hands at 8000 yen, and in the US in Q3 2013 for $120.
