Suzanne’s drawings of childhood unconscious reminded me then of adulthood unconscious, particularly of Rene Margritte, the surrealist Belgium artist that painted the famous Portrait of Edward James (see above), and arguably the latter Portrait of Stephen Colbert (see above). But for Colbert, obviously, it was Superconscious we are dealing with here.
Whether or not Magritte actually conceived the Portrait of Stephen Colbert, which hung briefly on the wall outside of the men’s bathroom in The National Portrait Gallery, we will leave it for Colbert to explain. But he has inspired many other modern surrealists. One of which is an Australian depiction of Le Blanc Seing called Green Tractor in Gum (see right), which we found rather amusing.
