Cardboard People

Seen on Curated, Anton Tang’s Cardboard People is a series of cardboard miniatures posed and photographed in various real-world scenarios looking at turns pensive, distraught and inquisitive – impressively expressive for having a fixed facial expression.

The series brought to mind fond memories of watching Blur’s “Coffee and TV” on old, late-night MTV.

The Artist is Present video game

This is a video game simulation of Marina Abramović’s 2010 performance The Artist is Present. Buy a ticket for $25, walk through MoMA, and wait in line to sit with Marina. I can’t tell you what happens after that because I had started playing at 5:28 and was kicked out of the game promptly at 5:30, just as MoMA’s closing time IRL.

Enviro-Bear 2010 Best Game for iProduct

You are a bear driving a hatchback, eating fish and berries to fatten up for hibernation. Avoid badgers, bees, and other bears. Deceptively simple, sublime, only 99¢. Now also available for Android.

Project Neon

Kirsten Hively has been dutifully tracking down, photographing and exploring the history of iconic neon signs in NYC on her Tumblr, which is well worth a visit. Now her passion has spilled over into a gallery showing which opened on Sept. 23rd at The City Reliquary in Brooklyn as well as an iPhone app that helps direct you to the many signs she’s documented and come complete with in-depth information about each one.

Arik Levy | Water=Life

Inspired by a river stone, Arik Levy’s Water=Life is the perfect counter to the frustrating “smaller cap=less plastic bottles” Eco-Slim caps that hurt my hands. More info can be found at the Water=Life website.

The Johnny Cash Project

HOW DID I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS? Of all places, I was at work staring at some football game because the bar was so very very slow tonight, and an ad from Google Chrome featuring this project came up. Check it out here, the Johnny Cash Project is a truly innovative crowd sourced music video done by Chris Milk (He also was behind the HTML5 masterpiece music video -Wilderness Downtown by Arcade fire)

The Johnny Cash Project is a global collective art project, and we would love for you to participate. Through this website, we invite you to share your vision of Johnny Cash, as he lives on in your mind’s eye. Working with a single image as a template, and using a custom drawing tool, you’ll create a unique and personal portrait of Johnny. Your work will then be combined with art from participants around the world, and integrated into a collective whole: a music video for “Ain’t No Grave”, rising from a sea of one-of-a-kind portraits. A “living” portrait of the Man in Black, simply amazing.
