By using Google Maps’ Street View feature in an innovative way, the Google Cultural Institute now allows you to browse the Guggenheim Museum on your computer.
While seeing images online is no substitute for experiencing artwork in person, it does offer a unique experience being able to select artworks and instantly be transported there (virtually). The site also shows you on a map where in the museum the artwork is located if you’d like to make a mental note for your next in-person visit. And the Guggenheim is only one of the most recent (and notable) museums to be mapped and added — Google Cultural Institute offers access to over a thousand.
