Since Geddem is based in NYC, we’ve had our fair share of experiences on the subway. The usual deal is that you rarely look at the faces of your fellow riders; not unless you’re Adam Magyar. His work “Stainless” takes a long look at hundreds of passengers in the subway stations around the world.
The monochrome video catches each passenger crawling through time as the camera continues to pan through the station. The film is taken from the inside of the subway car, which takes only seconds to come to a stop once leaving the tunnel with a customized Optronis high-speed camera at 56 times normal speed. Those seconds are drawn out for several minutes in each video.
