For those of you who’ve followed Sam Sifton’s brief tenure as the head of the NY Times’ Dining section, you already know he made minor waves for approaching the whole thing in a little looser, more downtown way than Bruni before him – in no way more apparent than his penchant for dropping a musical reference or five, from the Ramones to Jay-Z and back again.
