Rocky USB, Why Not?

rocky3

“It’s the eye of the tiger” from Cube Collection, Japan. Do you have the strength and ambition like Rocky doing perfect crunches non-stop through the power of USB? A whole new look from the original Cube Collection USB Crunching Dog. Now is the time to fight back with Rocky in his Rocky III boxing outfit.

If we really need some USB gadget that is almost completely useless but does entertain somehow, this would be one. I mean, look at the size of their USB thingies … Get all these and see them do perfect crunches until one drains out your laptop battery completely. What a step up from the original Crunching Dog. Available for $19.99 from AudioCubes.com.

For all the boys in the room

…or maybe the men: a couple guides-to-living that hit all the important notes. The importance of a signature drink, and how to figure out what the hell it should be in the first place. How to give a proper toast. The only ‘emo’ band you can justify listening to (hint: The Cure/The Smiths). What to do with any drinking challenge (hint: accept it).

From The Essential Man:

The idea for this blog came to me when I began picturing what I would tell my future son through his growing years.

Or maybe what I would tell myself 20 years ago if they get DeLoreans to somehow actually work.

Or quite possibly what I would say to punk teenagers on the stoop, as that bitter 90 year old man who everyone thinks is crazy.

rules
From 1001 Rules for My Unborn Son (soon to be a book):

Let’s get some things straight before I get old and uncool.

I’m used to arguing against strict gender divides, but I will somehow always keep a soft spot for even the most outdated traditions related to the concept of how a gentleman should behave. Of course, we’ll make mistakes. We’ll ruin women’s lives, our friends’ lives, perhaps the lives of our children even as we ruin our own. This is inevitable. But it’s an important point that these guides make:  it will forever be our responsibility to always, always try.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Now, we finally get a real taste. What’s to say but that it looks beautiful? If the movie is all that this clip promises, I can’t wait to take this ride. R.I.P. Heath. Terry Gilliam, have you outdone yourself on this one?

Set in the present day, director Terry Gilliams fantastical morality tale follows the traveling show of the mysterious Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) — a man who once won a bet with the Devil himself, and possesses the unique ability to guide the imagination of others.

Remi Gaillard and the poor, poor chickens

More on Remi Gaillard, the Mario Karting Frenchman who has elevated the common prank to the level of performance art. This food-related bit spotted on Serious Eats – the chicken funeral.

Mario Kart, Aziz Ansari, etc.

If you’re not reading Aziz Ansari’s blog already, you need to start. I saw Funny People over the weekend and let me be the first to tell you something you’ll be hearing a lot over the next few weeks – Aziz steals the 146 minute show with only about five minutes of on-screen time. What’s not to like? He’s a foodie, rolls with Kanye and hunts with James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), and just generally knows what’s what. Take this video he shares in an old-ass blog post. Ever play Mario Kart? Then you need to see this.

And check out his ongoing series of RAAAAAAAANDY! shorts, part of a faux-documentary involving his Funny People character, which was developed around the question, “what if Soulja Boy did stand up comedy?”
